Consumers' Desire for More... More
Read Press releases of CABSAT2007The digital technology has brought about a paradigm change in the way broadcasting is carried out and how these services are consumed. While some broadcasters have initiated the transition to digital technologies, many others are considering whether and when, to take the first steps on the digital path.
One of the main reasons why some broadcasters have not commenced the digital transition is because of lack of sufficient information and understanding of the technology and financial impacts. Launching digital services is just the first step in the entire process. What is needed is an overhaul of the workflow, management and staff structures and business plans. Only then will the broadcasters be able to get the benefits of the digital dimension.
The rapidly growing trend for introducing HDTV and mobile broadcasting adds to equation for the decision making process for broadcasters. IPTV also offers its own challenges and opportunities.
The CABSAT 2009 conference will address several issues that need to be considered in the decision making process on the digital shift detailed above. It aims to provide the participants with the requisite information and real-life experiences on the digital transition, both from inside of the Middle-East and from other parts of the world. The conference will provide a forum for broadcasters to exchange views and experiences on when and how to launch digital television. The conference will also take up issues which dominate current broadcasting services.
CABSAT MENA, the region's leading event for digital media industry, will open doors at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre from 3 - 5 March 2009.
Co-organised with Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union, we are in the process of developing the conference programme for the above event and would like to invite the industry to submit presentations on "Going HD – Business Plans and Technology Options". The conference aims to address several issues in the decision making process of digital SDTV, HDTV and digital radio services. It aims to provide the participants with the requisite information and real-life experiences in the SD-HD area, both from inside of the Middle-East and from other parts of the world.
