ViaLite Communications designs and manufactures RF over fiber (RFoF) links and systems used in: Satcom, Broadcast, Defence, Cellular, GPS etc.

Links include: L-Band HTS, C-Band (with a full range of 500 MHz - 7.5 GHz!), Broadcast, Hyper-Wide Dynamic Range, DVB-T, Satellite IF, VSAT, Ultra-Wideband and UHF/VHF. ViaLite recently launched a 6 GHz Link. In its Black OEM module form factor, the 6 GHz link is IP55 rated, meaning it’s suitable for outdoor use without the need for an additional enclosure! The new module will be on display at CABSAT.

ViaLite links are available as OEM modules or rack chassis cards that can be housed in 19" 1U or 3U rack chassis units. The links cover distances of 0-10 km, 50 km and up to 600 km when using ViaLite’s Long Distance DWDM System. ViaLite also offers a Rain Fade Diversity System for Ka-Band.

Supporting products include: SNMP for monitoring & control (‘Horizons’), the System Designer tool – used for designing and testing larger systems, a range of outdoor enclosures, CWDM/DWDM, Dual Redundancy, Splitters, Amplifiers, Digital Data and Ethernet!

All products include a 5-year warranty.

Goonhilly Earth Station installs RF over Fiber

Together with a camera crew, ViaLite visited the world famous earth station at Goonhilly, UK. The dishes that received the first transatlantic satellite TV images and relayed live pictures of the Apollo moon landing and Live Aid are now decommissioned. However, the site now has a new life serving some of the world’s largest teleport operators. 6 GHz Outdoor Module RF over fiber link

ViaLite’s new '6 GHz Outdoor Module' RF over fiber link is IP55 rated so can be used outdoors without the need for an additional enclosure, even in harsh environments! The link covers a wide frequency range from 10 MHz to 6 GHz (7 GHz at 4 dB pt); providing the widest RF bandwidth for a product in this format and covering VHF, UHF, L, S and C-bands. It is suitable for use in a variety of applications such as Broadcast, Satcom, GPS/Timing and Mil-Aero. With an industry-leading spurious free dynamic range (SFDR) at 109 dB/Hz at 1500 MHz and 104 dB/Hz at 5 GHz, it is also the widest SFDR RF over fiber product in outdoor rated module format. It supports link distances of up to 50 km and operating temperatures of -20 to +60 ºC. It can also be easily installed as a standalone product for temporary or permanent applications.

ODE-MINI Outdoor Enclosure

The new ViaLiteHD ODE-MINI is a compact and versatile outdoor enclosure with a good deal of features for its cost and size. It can house one or two Blue or Yellow OEM Links, which can be any ViaLite RF band up to and including 6 GHz, or a C-Band Link up to 7.5 GHz. The ODE-MINI is ViaLite's smallest enclosure (220 x 155 x 95 mm) and is IP65 rated as well as lightweight and dish-mountable. The enclosure comes with a 5-year warranty as standard and options include Site Controller for SNMP M&C, a 3 port mini Ethernet switch and dual redundant PSU.

3U Rack Chassis

The ViaLiteHD 3U Chassis can hold up to 13 RF dual cards (up to 26 links - reducing the amount of rack space required) plus an SNMP card and two power supplies. All ViaLite modules are hot swappable, avoiding the need to power-down the chassis prior to swapping modules and this can be combined with blind mate connectivity and/or redundancy to ensure almost zero downtime. The chassis design uses an integrated backplane for connectivity and there are on-card LNB and BUC power options. It can be monitored and controlled remotely via SNMP using a web browser and data bus allows transfer of data between modules. There is also a fan assembly option available which reduces the temperature of the chassis, making it is possible to use more modules inside. The 3U indoor rack chassis comes with a 5-year warranty as standard.

Multizone Lossless Splitter

The ViaLiteHD Multizone Distribution Lossless Splitter allows for one transmitter to supply multiple receive points. The splitter has zero optical loss and can be used with any ViaLite RF over fiber frequency band. However, it is most suitable in any fan-out application such as GPS/GNSS signal and timing distribution. The Multizone Lossless Splitter offers 8, 16, 32 and 64 way splitting with no loss and is compatible with any RF frequency. It can utilize the lower loss 1550 nm wavelength or alternatively any of the ITU DWDM channels for longer distances. The Multizone Lossless Splitter is available in 1U or 2U format and comes with a 5-year warranty as standard.

UHF/VHF 10 MHz-1 GHz

ViaLiteHD UHF/VHF fiber optic links cover bandwidths between 10-1000 MHz and are ideal for use in metro, mining and tunnel applications. The links can be used for moving WiMax, Tetra and UHF/VHF signals into areas that standard signals cannot reach. The ultra-wide dynamic range allows flexibility to seamlessly transmit varying signal levels easily and with Optical Splitters the signals can be point to multipoint. Signals can be transmitted from 1 m to 50 km and there are a range of outdoor enclosures available, with their 'plug-and-play' nature allowing for rapid deployment. ViaLiteHD UHF/VHF fiber optic links also come with a 5-year warranty as standard.

Blue2 Link 2 kHz-4.2 GHz

ViaLite‘s RF over fiber Blue2 Link is a dual-solution OEM which can be setup as 2x transmitters, 2x receivers or a transceiver as required. The link has a dustproof casing and is available in all ViaLite frequency bands from 2 kHz-4.2 GHz, including ViaLite‘s extended L-Band HTS. It's available with a 15-Way or 9-Way D Type connector and is I²C programmable using the Development Programming Kit. The Blue2 was developed further to customer demand and can be used as a replacement for the discontinued AnaCom Transceiver or as a plugin replacement for the Optical Zonu Transceiver. There are FC/APC or SC/APC options as well as an optional WDM for single fiber connection. The ViaLite Blue2 Link comes with a 5-year warranty as standard.

GPS Link

The ViaLite GNSS/GPS over fiber link allows for timing distribution and accurate synchronization using GPS-derived timing signals. The links are a reliable method for transporting GPS signals from antennas to receivers/re-radiators, and provide a simple solution for signal distribution over long distances and to inaccessible locations. The link transmits all common GPS, GALILEO, GLONASS and BeiDou bands and covers L1 and L2 GPS frequencies. It is suitable for transmission distances of up to 50 km, with systems also available for distances over 50 km and has a simple 'plug-and-play' operation, as well as time server load input/spoofing. The GPS Link is compatible with the ViaLite Monitoring and Control (M&C) modules and comes with a 5-year warranty as standard.

Monitoring and Control Modules

The ViaLite ‘Horizons’ Monitoring and Control modules can be used to fully manage ViaLiteHD RF over fiber systems. The HRC-3 Horizons option allows for inter-facility control and can be multiplexed using CWDM or used over extreme distances with DWDM. It can also be used with optical fiber to extend existing Ethernet networks from point-to-point and optionally from point-to-multipoint. Features can include full remote management with integrated web GUI or SNMP MIB, MIB that can be integrated with all major satcom NMS systems, maintenance mode allowing modifications to be carried out offline and real-time monitoring of card performance & redundancy switching. M&C modules come with a 5-year warranty and standard and are compatible with all ViaLiteHD rack chassis, chassis cards and the Satcom6 enclosure. ViaLite‘s Horizons software can also be used with existing ViaLite M&C modules.

Broadcast Links

The VialiteHD range of fiber optic links enable indoor and outdoor broadcast operators to transport multiple RF feeds between cameras, wireless microphones and production communications (such as IFBs over optical fiber). The ultra-wide dynamic range allows for multiple signals to be transported simultaneously, e.g., multiple cameras or microphones of varying powers over a single link. The broadcast links offered are: Green OEM Link covering 100 MHz-1 GHz with voltage protection, UHF/VHF 10 MHz-1 GHz, DVB-T 470-900 MHz with input voltage protection, and Black OEM for outdoor use (IP55 rated) covering 10 MHz – 6 GHz (frequency range). The standard link covers distances of 1-10 km and all come with a 5-year warranty as standard.

L-Band HTS 700-2450 MHz

The ViaLite L-Band HTS link (700-2450 MHz) covers distances of 1 m to 50 km and is the most commonly used RF over fiber link in Satellite Communications. It is ideal for 500, 800 and full 1500 MHz bandwidths used in High Throughput Satellites (HTS). It boasts superior linearity and low noise and is true 'plug-and-play'. Designed for Satcom with RF and fiber connections on the rear, this link offers 13/18 V and 22 kHz tone LNB control and has options of 50 or 75 ohm. It is also compatible with SNMP or web GUI interfaces for easy set-up, remote monitoring or control. The link has a 5-year warranty as standard and a Long Distance Link DWDM system up to 600 km is also available.
