Disney+ to launch in Saudi Arabia and MENA on June 8
The streaming service will cost $8.16 in the UAE, $7.99 in Saudi Arabia and $2.73 per month in Egypt.
Disney+ has confirmed launch dates for the 42 countries and 11 new territories set to launch this summer.
The streaming service will launch in Saudi Arabia and across 15 other MENA markets on June 8, 2022. It will become available in South Africa on May 18 and on June 16 in Israel, among others.
Pricing in Saudi Arabia has also been announced at SAR 29.99 ($7.99) per month or SAR 298.99 ($79.68) for an annual subscription.
For subscribers in the UAE, the new service will cost Dh29.99 ($8.16) per month or Dh298.99 ($81.40) for an annual subscription. In Egypt, the service will be priced at Egyptian pounds 49.99 ($2.73) a month and Egyptian pounds 498.99 ($27.21) per year.
The new regional streaming service will be home to all the latest content and back catalogue from popular Disney brands including Disney itself, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic.
The June launch across the Mena region is part of a wider expansion that will include 42 new countries and 11 territories where Disney+ services will be available over the course of the summer.
Subscribers will have access to Star Wars’ The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian from executive producer and writer Jon Favreau. In addition, the Marvel Studios’ series Moon Knight starring Oscar Isaac as Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life and Academy Award-nominated Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings starring Simu Liu and Awkwafina.
Subscribers will also be able to watch Disney and Pixar’s Academy Award-nominated Luca and Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Academy Award-winning Encanto, which tells the tale of an extraordinary family the Madrigals and Academy Award-winning Cruella starring Emma Stone as the legendary Cruella de Vil.
In general entertainment, subscribers will also be able to watch titles including action-packed Academy Award-nominated comedy Free Guy starring Ryan Reynolds as well as The Simpsons and Grey’s Anatomy. From National Geographic, The World According To Jeff Goldblum season one sees Jeff take us on an entertaining, insightful and playful ride. In each episode of this 12-part series, he pulls on the thread of a deceptively familiar object to unravel a world of astonishing connections and fascinating science and history.
Users will have access to high-quality viewing, up to four concurrent streams, unlimited downloads on up to ten devices, and the ability to set up to seven different profiles, including the ability for parents to set Kids Profiles that have an easy-to-navigate child-friendly interface to access age-appropriate content.
