Bernhard Hafenscher (50) started his career in the IT industry working for Deutsche Telekom systems house T-Systems and US software giant Oracle in marketing, product management, business development and sales roles across Europe and the Middle East with a focus on digital video enabling software and infrastructure. Project highlights included Sky UK (BskyB at the time), UPC and Etisalat.
In 2000 Bernhard formed hmc media development positioned as a consultancy bridge between technology, content and commerce and became part of a specialist network across Europe. Projects were delivered to the likes of Sun Microsystems (now Oracle Corp), Panasonic, Alcatel, Cisco, HP, Siemens, ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation), Telekom Austria and Vodafone Deutschland.
In 2008 Bernhard took over an assignment at Red Bull who were about to build a media business. Very soon the consulting work led to an employment and he became Head of Business Development at newly formed Red Bull Media House. In 2014 he was promoted to Global Head of Sales with a responsibility for affiliate and program sales in Red Bull’s TV business as well as for brand partnerships and outbound advertising in Red Bull owned media and events.
In 2017 he became an entrepreneur again with an investment in the cloud-based broadcast platform Streemfire.com, where he also took the CEO role. Selling his shares one year later led to a renaissance of consulting projects, in association with Swiss based OnMedia AG, serving clients in the broadcast, infrastructure and content production business alike. A most recent assignment is currently run for Munich based sports channel SPORT1 (Constantin Medien AG), for who Bernhard is coordinating the international rollout of eSports1, a 24/7 channel dedicated to premium e-sports events from around the world.
