Nicholas “Donnie” Laughton
Nicholas (“Donnie”) Laughton manages the architecture and application development team for Telesat LEO. He joined Telesat in 2015 and was an integral member of the team that produced the Telesat LEO concept architecture. He is the lead architect for the Telesat LEO Operations Segment and principal author of the Telesat LEO concept of operations and functional architecture for the operations software stack. Before joining Telesat, Mr. Laughton worked in the System Engineering group at MDA Space Systems (Montreal) where he focused on the design of next-generation payload architectures for GSO and NGSO satellite systems. In addition to his civilian employment, Capt. Laughton serves as an engineering officer with the Canadian Forces Primary Reserve. Mr. Laughton holds post-secondary degrees in aerospace engineering (BEng) and electrical engineering (MASc) from Carleton University.
